Welcome To Silver Spur Riders Club
Silver Spur Riders Club
For 29 years, Silver Spur Riders Club (SSRC) has held shows in the southwest Louisiana area. Family is and has been a priority to our horse show club. Our club is multi-generational. We have had the pleasure of watching children grow into adults and then raise their children as showmen in our arena. We have been blessed with many great families who have walked through that alley way gate into our lives.
We invite you to become a part of our SSRC family!
Some background on our club:
We are a non-profit open horse show that has contestants from southwest Louisiana to the Houston area and last year our 9 show series averaged 388 entries strong. West Cal Arena in Sulphur, Louisiana is a covered arena and the home of our horse shows. The facility has stalls and RV hookups available on-site with hotels and restaurants available within seconds of the arena. The arena is located off Interstate 10, about 20 miles from Texas.
SSRC provides participation in the PAC, OCAP and OEIP programs for our members. Our show has four age divisions for English and western competition: pee wee (13 & under) with both walk-trot and walk-trot-lope categories, junior (14-18) and senior (19 & 0ver) with the age determined as of January 1st. This year we also offer three western classes for the 40+ age group that are walk-trot only. The club offers numerous halter classes for all types of horses and specific mini/pony classes in halter, in hand trail & jumping and driving.
As family is a priority for SSRC, so is a quality show environment for our club. We try to provide classes to suit our exhibitor’s interests and quality judges to determine the placings. As we are a non profit club, most monies go back to members in year end awards each year. Qualified members winning 1st place in each class will win a buckle, while 2nd through 6th places receive pro-rated monetary awards. Awards are also given for all around & reserve all around in each age division, halter high point for year-end, champion of champions for halter horse, high point & reserve high point in English and western for each age division.
